A few words from Academy Players...

As a Cultural Arts Center that has always stood beside our community, Academy Players of RI  formally denounces the racist actions that have occurred recently with regard to the murder of George Floyd.  We have always been a company that has stood up to hatred, and we will not stay silent.  #BlackLivesMatter, and we are proud to stand next to our black brothers and sisters in the fight to end this hatred.  We challenge our friends in the theater community to join us in this fight.   We want to come together as a community to put an end to these senseless acts. How will you stand up? We are choosing to continue to support the Kingian Nonviolence Program at North Providence High School.  As we have a staff member trained in Kingian Nonviolence, Academy has and will continue to support this program which trains young people in Kingian Nonviolence. Before the theater was shut down due to Covid-19, we were working with our partner school, North Providence High, to bring this training to our Summer Teen Intensive, and we are planning to continue this work far into the future to help build the beloved community.

If you'd like to make a donation to the North Providence High School Kingian Nonviolence Program please send your check to North Providence High School, 1828 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904 and put Kingian Nonviolence Program in the memo line.
